Effective date: March 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Timezone Explorer ("we," "us," "the Service") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at timezoneexplorer.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Timezone Explorer is designed to minimize data collection. The Service operates primarily within your browser. We collect the following categories of information:
| Category | Method | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser timezone | JavaScript Intl API |
Display local time; suggest relevant cities | Client-side only |
| User preferences & workspace | Browser localStorage |
Persist city selections and settings between sessions | Client-side only |
| Aggregated usage metrics | Cloudflare Web Analytics | Understand page views, country-level traffic patterns | Cloudflare (aggregated, anonymized) |
| Payment & billing data | Lemon Squeezy | Process Pro subscription transactions | Lemon Squeezy (we never access or store card details) |
We want to be explicit about what we do not do:
The Service allows you to generate shareable comparison URLs. These URLs encode city names, timezone identifiers, and optional meeting parameters. Shared links do not contain personally identifiable information. By sharing a link, you acknowledge that the encoded data becomes accessible to any party that receives the URL.
Your city selections, workspace configurations, and application preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data resides on your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly generate a shared link. You may clear this data at any time through your browser's settings or developer tools.
The Service relies on the following third-party providers, each subject to their own privacy policies:
We do not operate user databases or maintain individual user records. Cloudflare Web Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be tied to individual users. Payment and subscription records are maintained by Lemon Squeezy in accordance with their data retention policy and applicable financial regulations.
We employ industry-standard security measures through our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) including TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit, DDoS protection, and Web Application Firewall services. As the Service processes minimal personal data, our attack surface is inherently limited.
Given our minimal data collection practices, most privacy rights under GDPR, CCPA, and similar frameworks are satisfied by design. Specifically:
The Service is hosted on Cloudflare's global network. Web analytics data may be processed in countries outside your jurisdiction. Cloudflare maintains appropriate data transfer mechanisms including Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data transfers.
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes — particularly any expansion of data collection practices (such as introducing user accounts) — will be communicated on the website prior to taking effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
